History

In 2011, a group of science teachers and educators organized the National Organization of Science Teachers and Educators (NOSTE) to provide professional development opportunities to teachers in basic and higher education. These teachers are engaged in science and mathematics teaching, research and extension. With members from a few schools as founding members, NOSTE was registered with SEC in the same year as non-sectarian educational organization. NOSTE Inc. is based at Iloilo City, bringing closer to this part of the country, professional development of high calibre. Formerly an Association of Elementary Science Teachers and Educators of the Philippines (AESTEP), the new organization has widened its membership to include science and mathematics teachers and educators at all levels.

Objectives of NOSTE:

  1. To enhance science teaching and research skills of the science teachers in science and related subject areas in elementary, secondary and tertiary schools and school communities;

  2. To raise and maintain standards of science teacher education along instruction, research and extension and production;

  3. To foster unity, cooperation, collaboration and linkages among science teachers and educators;

  4. To improve access in national and global developments concerning science teaching and learning; and

  5. To establish and maintain working linkages with governmental and non-governmental and non-governmental association in the promotion and support of science teaching and learning programs.
